First Reconciliation

First Reconciliation is normally celebrated by children in the second grade.

First Reconciliation is celebrated in the second grade based on the child’s readiness. The program consists of eleven sessions of instruction in the areas of doctrine, prayer and community participation. Parents are asked to participate in the catechetical formation of their child by reviewing the weekly lessons through a series of home sessions. A mandatory parent session is held discussing the current thinking on the sacrament, a review of the curriculum, and to view a video on First Reconciliation.

Both Catechists and St. Rita School grade two teachers are involved in the children’s preparation each week. The sacrament is celebrated in the late fall. All families, grandparents, and godparents are invited to participate.
