First Eucharist

First Eucharist is normally celebrated by children in the second grade.

Preparation for First Eucharist begins after completion of the Reconciliation Program. We urge families to attend weekly the 9:30 a.m. liturgy before First Eucharist preparation class at 10:30 a.m. Children’s Liturgy of the Word is an important component of the catechetical program.

Parents are asked to participate in First Eucharist Preparation as the primary educators of their children by incorporating the weekly home sessions into their family life and by taking an active role in the family liturgy celebrations as lectors and gift bearers. The liturgy celebration is an integral part of the children and parent preparation for First Eucharist.

Preparation for First Eucharist culminates with a fun and spirit filled Eucharist Workshop Day. Eucharistic Workshop Day consists of activities and workshops that review the years preparation for the sacrament. The celebration of First Eucharist is held on a Saturday morning in the Spring. Our goal is to encourage the children and their families to come together to express their faith and share the Good News of Jesus with others in our world.
