Welcome Back – Fall 2009

Welcome back St. Rita Religious Education Families,

As those entrusted to pass on the faith, the catechists and I seek to share in the ministry of communicating the beliefs, values and practices, which help us grow as Catholics.

Our Religious Education Program is designed to assist you in your ministry of leading your child to God. The Parish Religious Education Program can only strengthen the Catholic life lived at home. Together, our work is to hand on our Catholic faith through our curriculum and example each Sunday. Please attend Mass with your child.

Our Parish School of Religion goals in all grades are as follows:

  • To teach children what a Catholic believes, prays, and how a Catholic should live
  • To involve children in the life of the parish in its worship, service and community
  • To assist you as you pass on your Catholic faith to your children

Occasionally, we will send home “The Family Time Page” from your child’s workbook. “Family Time” provides an opportunity to focus on the theme of the lesson we are reviewing: as it relates to family life. Please take the time to read it and share with your child what they are learning in class. Please ask them what they are learning! Much information will be sent home with your child in Preparation for 1st Reconciliation/1st Communion, please look over this material.

Attendance is critical each week – the catechist and other students in your child’s class rely on everyone’s attendance for the sake of continuity and development of their Sunday School community and understanding of their faith. We have much to accomplish in very little time. Please call the office at 281-7522 if your child must be absent from class. We will call you if your child has been absent for two consecutive weeks. Children preparing for First Communion may jeopardize their opportunity of reception of the sacrament this year due to absences (make up lessons are mandatory).

We look forward to being with your children each Sunday. Please call the office, if you should have any questions or concerns.

Blessings,
Dianne Breen
Director of Religious Education
