The line of parishoners waiting to say thank you and farewell to Fr. Paul only seemed to get longer as the afternoon went on. Hundreds showed up at the Donnelly Parish Center to say goodbye to Fr. Paul Gotta, who is leaving St. Rita for a new assignment. The afternoon included lots of great food, drink and plenty of hugs and well-wishes for a fantastic priest who will be remembered and missed. Good luck and God bless, Fr. Paul!

Last year over 100,000 meals were served to over 4,000 people. Each year, Columbus House is able to help many chronically homeless adults break the cycle and overcome their addictions, obtain mental health treatment and find housing. Our success is attributable to a wonderful staff of over 85 people, all of whom are compassionate and who are credentialed and certified as necessary.

200 lbs of Corn Beef

10 lbs of Hot Dogs

150 lbs of potatoes

75 lbs of carrots

100 lbs of cabbage

64 bottles of water

280 Cans/Bottles Returned for deposit

0 Bandages used in the Kitchen

Attending the event were just under 230 people in total. There were 16 St. Rita Knights of Columbus families attending the dinner, many of them for the first time. $305 was awarded in the 50/50 raffle with all proceeds going to the St. Rita Parish ($305 raised for Parish).

Special thanks to Carol Twohill for handling ticket reservations and seating. We had well over 20 St. Rita Knights helping out in some way throughout the weekend. Joe, Jim and John Dacey, always giving of their time to support St. Patrick’s Day events at St. Rita, brought their expertise and fraternal brotherhood from Fr. Donaher Council #3733 in North Haven.

Regarding Knight of Columbus membership, during the dinner we acquired a transfer, received a commitment from two gentlemen who will attend a first degree on March 23rd at St. Mary’s, and had three additional Gentlemen express interest in joining the St. Rita Knights of Columbus.
