Fall Dinner Dance

A Fall Dinner Dance (DJ) – hosted by Knights of Columbus St. Rita Council #14664 – will be held on September 25th at 6:00 P.M. in the Donnelly Parish Center. $25 per person/$40 per couple.

Family Style Dining: featuring cold Antipasto, Tossed Salad, Homemade meatballs with pasta, dessert, coffee & tea. BYOB- Soda will be provided. Tickets can be purchased at the rectory.

Please bring a donation item for the food pantry: Cereal, tuna, baked beans, soup, pasta sauce, mac & cheese, pasta, peanut butter & jelly.

St. Rita Day Care Center Teacher Needed

ST. RITA DAY CARE CENTER has an opening for a full time Head Teacher. Head Teacher certificate or the equivalent in experience is requested. Degree in early childhood education preferred. Salary is negotiable based upon experience.

Social Action Committee

SOCIAL ACTION COMMITTEE will meet Sunday, September 12, after the 11:30 AM Mass (12:30) in the Parish Meeting Room. Parishioners interested in social justice, respect life and building solidarity are invited to attend. New members are welcome.

Connecticut Bike Project

The Connecticut Bike Project in conjunction with Catholic Charities in Bridgeport and several other non-profit organizations will be collecting old bikes on Saturday, September 25th in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church (Hamden) parking lot from 11:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M.

The idea is simple: Get old bikes, fix them up and give them to people, who need transportation including ex convicts, who otherwise would not be able to get to work and people who have lost their jobs and have no income to pay for public transit. People in need can contact the group or get a referral from their social worker for a bike.

St. Rita School Corner

St. Rita School will open its doors on September 1st to 430 students. Grade 1-8 will begin on September 1st and Kindergarten on September 2nd. Pre-school begins on September 7th. We will celebrate our Opening School Liturgy on Friday, September 3rd at 9:00 A.M. Please join us for this special liturgy asking God’s blessing on our new school year.

The Annual School Walk-A-Thon will be held on Sunday, September 26th after the 11:30 AM Mass. Students will walk from school to the Farmington Canal and back to school for a festive party. If any parishioner would like to sponsor a child, ask a neighbor or call the school office.
We are always grateful to the entire parish community that so generously support our efforts at St. Rita School.

Bereavement Support Group

Have you recently suffered the loss of a spouse, another family member or friend?

A 10-week seminar for the bereaved led by trained facilitators will begin on September 13th. The group meets every Monday evening for 10 weeks from 6:45pm-8:45pm at the Elderly Ministry Office (convent) on 30 Gillies Road.

Food Needed

The following is a list of food needed for our Parish Food Pantry: cereal, tuna, baked beans, soup, pasta sauce, mac & cheese, pasta, peanut butter, jelly. If you could bring these items to our pantry on the 1st & 3rd Saturday mornings between 10:00-11:00 AM when the pantry is open, it would be both appreciated and helpful.
