News & Notes: April 12, 2016

April 12, 2016

Dear St. Rita Parents,

Included in the last New & Notes was a detailed list of all upcoming events which we will update regularly and post to our website. Please view the list below and note that any new events (that have been added or changed) are in red. Also, please note that the last day of school was incorrectly listed. Thursday, June 9 is the final day of school for students in grades 1-7. We will end the year with Mass at 10:00 followed by early dismissal at 12:15.

On Friday, May 6 we will celebrate Grandparents/Special Persons Day for all grade levels. Grandparents/Special Persons are asked to join us in church to celebrate First Friday Mass and the May Crowning. After returning to school, where refreshments will be served, Grandparents/Special Persons will spend some time visiting with their grandchild in his/her classroom to learn about all the great things our students are learning. The event will end at approximately 11:30.

IOWA testing will be held from May 2-May 13 for students in grades 3-7. The Iowa Assessments help determine how students are performing on nationwide standards. These assessments measure achievement in several important content areas including Reading, English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Testing will take place most mornings until 10:00 A.M. Please be sure your child gets a good night sleep, eats breakfast and arrives to school on-time. Do not make any appointments for your child that will require him/her to miss out on the testing. Results of your child‟s performance on the IOWA tests will be sent home by the end of the year.

Re-registration deposits of $250 per child and the family tuition agreement are due by Friday, April 29. With the restructuring currently occurring within the Archdiocesan school network we have many families looking to enroll for the 2016-2017 school year. In order to guarantee your child‟s spot your $250 deposit per child and your family tuition agreement are due.

Congratulations to our Invention Convention winners, Reese Saracco, Mia Ruggiero and Paul Anderson, who will be going to the State Finals on Saturday, April 30. Also congratulations to our alumni who obtained honor roll status at for the 3rd marking period at Xavier high school, Brendan Buckley, Nicholas DeBrizzi, Brendan Donahue, David Johns, Stephen Caulfield, John, McEachern, and Nathaniel Gonzalez.

Much excitement is growing around our new summer camp program which will begin the week of June 20 here at St. Rita School. Mrs. Jones and Ms. Sharkey have been sending home information to those families who have expressed interest. It is not too last to sign up for either full-day or half-day sessions for students entering PreK4-Grade 5 or a new Jr. Counselor program for those students entering grades 6-8. Information about the camp is included in the Tuesday envelope.

Next week school will be closed for Spring break. Summer uniforms may be worn starting on Monday, May 2, 2016. I wish all of you a safe and relaxing vacation. Thank you for entrusting your child to our care.

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
